Uzone.id – Riot Games officially announced the merger of League of Legends servers in Southeast Asia, namely Thailand, the Philippines, and Singapore/Malaysia/Indonesia, into one regional server. The merge will take effect on January 9, 2025, along with the launch of patch 15.1.
Through League of Legends social media, Riot Games announced the merger of this server, which differs from the server migration carried out by Garena a few years ago. Merging these servers allows players to improve their gaming experience further with faster and more accurate matchmaking and reduces common latency and connection problems in games.
“Matchmaking is easier and faster. Your competitive experience will also be more exciting with this merger,” said Riot Games.
Furthermore, the company’s steps in merging servers are expected to reduce spike lag, ensure a more stable connection, and enlarge the player pool. The matchmaking system can also be more effective in installing players with similar skill levels for regular and ranked matches.
This server merger will also impact existing accounts, especially for players who have progressed much in the game. Riot Games guarantees that account data, including Riot ID, champions, skins, and summoner level, will be maintained and transferred to the new server. In addition, all in-game progress, such as mission milestones, loot, and honor levels, will also be retained.
However, some data will not be transferred in this process, especially those related to previous servers. Players from Thailand and the Philippines must know that Forum Badges, Victory Points, and Clash match history will not be carried over to the combined server. However, Riot Games ensures that most of the progress and items earned during the game will remain in their respective accounts.
Players who previously played in Thailand or the Philippines may experience a slight ping increase of around 20 ms after this server merge. Still, Riot Games emphasizes that the impact will be small or not felt in the gaming experience. This is because the server integration is designed with the latest technology and optimization to ensure the connection remains stable and the game smooth, even though it involves more players from different countries.
“If you’re playing in Thailand or the Philippines, you may experience an increase in ping of around 20 ms. However, this will have little or no impact on your overall gaming experience,” Riot Games continued.
This announcement has been positively received by the player community, who have been waiting for the integration server for a long time to reduce latency issues and improve interaction between players from different countries in the region.
The merger also opens up new opportunities in esports, including a new promotion and relegation system for the League of Legends Championship Pacific (LCP). This allows countries such as Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, and the Philippines to participate more actively in e-sports competitions.
With patch 15.1, which will be released on January 9, 2025, players in Southeast Asia can expect a new, smoother, and more enjoyable experience. Riot Games promises to continue monitoring and updating its servers to provide the best quality for all regional players.
Southeast Asian players are advised to prepare by checking their accounts and ensuring no important data is lost before the server merge. More information about the server merge process and further instructions can be found on the official League of Legends website and through Riot Games’ official communication channels.
